Cisco ACS Secure Access Control System Products

Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) is a range of AAA server products which Cisco created to help organizations to implement AAA. Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) can be used for implementing device administration, user authentication, authorizing commands, remote access policies, Network Admission Control etc.

Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) is available in different flavors.

Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) device: Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) dedicated rack mountable device is available. Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) dedicated device include a Linux based Operating System and Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) application product.

Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) 4.2 for Windows Server: A previous version of ACS is still available which can be installed in on top of an existing Windows Server. Current version (As of Nov 2013) is Cisco Secure Access Control Server 4.2, which was released on March 13, 2008.

Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) 5.4: Another new Linux based Secure ACS product is also available which can be installed on a VMware environment like ESXi server with is also available. Current version (As of Nov 2013) is Cisco Secure ACS 5.4.
