Different types of FTP Client software

We had started exploring FTP (File Transfer Protocol) in depth in previous lessons. FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is used to transfer files between computers. If we have an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) Server, there are different types of FTP Clients we can use to access the FTP Server. Most widely used types of FTP Clients are listed below.

GUI (Graphical User Interface) FTP Client software

There are different GUI (Graphical User Interface) FTP Client software available. Most of them are free or they have a basic version of free software available.

Web Browser

You can use a Web browser also as FTP Client. Almost all the browsers support FTP (File Transfer Protocol).

Command-line FTP client

Different Operating Systems has inbuilt Command-line FTP Client. Following image shows how to use Windows Command-line FTP client.
