How to change the position of commands on Excel Quick Access Toolbar (QAT)

You can change the position of commands in Excel Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), to a position comfortable to your working style. To change the position of commands in Excel Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), follow these steps.

Step 1 : Click "Customize Quick Access Toolbar" drop-down menu button located in Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) as shown below.

Step 2 - Open "Excel Options" window's Quick Access Toolbar panel by clicking the "More Commands".

"Excel Options" window can be opened by following methods also.

• Click the "File" tab in Excel Ribbon and then click "Options". Select "Quick Access Toolbar" Panel.

Or

• Right-click anywhere on the Ribbon. Click "Customize Quick Access Toolbar".

"Excel Options" Window is opened with its Quick Access Toolbar selected, as shown in below image. You can see that the "Save" command is on top of right-side list in below image.

Top-most command in right-side list (as shown in above image) corresponds to the left-most command in Excel Quick Access Toolbar (QAT).

To make this concept more clear, below image shows a comparison of right-side list of "Excel Options" Quick Access Toolbar panel and actual Quick Access Toolbar. Top position in right-side list corresponds to left-side position in Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) and bottom position in right-side list corresponds to right-side position in Quick Access Toolbar (QAT.

Any change in the position of a command in right-side list will change the position of that command in Quick Access Toolbar.

Step 3 - If you want to bring any command to right-side of Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), click and select the command from right side list and then click down arrow as shown in below image.

You can see that the position of "Save" command shifted to right-side of Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), as shown in below image.

Step 4 - Similarly, if you want to bring any command to the left-side of Excel Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), click and select the command from right-side list and then click the "Up" arrow to bring it to up position in the right-side list. Please refer below image.
